Forgive Us Our Debts
Bible Text: Matthew 6:12 | Preacher: Kwan Chan | Series: Thy Kingdom Come 2020 | To be forgiven is to have your debts and all its damages deleted. As Christians, we have been forgiven by our Heavenly Father because of our faith in Christ.
Jesus teaches those who have been forgiven to pray for and practice daily forgiveness. In light of Father’s Day, we are to respond to this teaching by:
Praying daily for forgiveness from our Heavenly Father
Practicing forgiveness, especially towards our earthly fathers
Being a pacesetter in prayer and forgiveness (duty of a father).
We are to pray for daily forgiveness that we may grow in our love for God and grow in our likeness to Him. We are to practice forgiveness because we have been commanded to forgive by our King. While the command to forgive is difficult, the Good News is that God has gifted us with His Spirit, who empowers us to forgive.
