Jesus Worships

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Matthew 4:1-11

Jesus was tested by the devil with three common temptations: comfort, control, and power. In each situation, Jesus rejected the devil’s call, triumphed over temptation, and proved His trust in His Father, as well as His love for Him.

As we study this passage, it is important to note that the command is not merely that we imitate Jesus’ actions, but that we also adopt His heart. Jesus triumphed over sin not because He was disciplined, but because He eagerly desired His Heavenly Father.

Therefore, for us to live a life that is pleasing to God, we must seek after the Holy Spirit and ask Him to grow our desire for God. As we do this, we are to support this growing desire with a disciplined life.
