Look to Jesus
Bible Text: Hebrews 12:1-2 | Preacher: Curtis Lai | As the writer of Hebrews reminds us, we have all been called as believers to run the race of faith that has been set before us. In other words, we have been called to live in a way that is pleasing to God – laying aside any distraction and cutting out any sin that would keep us from living out a life of faith. But as the writer of Hebrews reminds us, running this race of faith is often a difficult task – a task that requires endurance.
However, the writer of Hebrews provides us with ample encouragement to be able to persevere through the race that has been set before us. Specifically, he provides us with two powerful motivations to aid us into being able to run this race well. The first is to look to the examples of other faithful believers before us. And the second is to look to the ultimate example – Jesus Christ Himself. As we do this, we will be empowered to faithfully live out the life we were meant to live. And we will be empowered to run with endurance the race that is set before us.
