In Jeremiah 3, God’s pleads for His people to return to Him and flee from their lifestyle of idolatry. Israel and Judah are depicted as faithless and treacherous children who rebel against God and break His heart. Yet in spite of their sin, they are pursued by their loving Heavenly Father. The good news of the Bible is that God actively pursues His wayward children in order that they might repent and experience the goodness of His covenant promises.
