Expressing Hopeful Sorrow
Bible Text: Psalm 13 | Preacher: Kwan Chan | Series: Prayer and Fasting | The Bible teaches us that ‘it’s ok to not be ok.’ When godly men and women experience calamity, it is normal to express sorrow; it is not godly and strong to ‘tough it out.’ The Psalms teach us to not only cry out to God in pain, but to cry out for help. However, there is a reluctance in us to cry out for help due to the cynicism that has developed in our hearts. As a result, we are urged to rebuild our trust in God by looking to the cross to recall His sovereignty and love for us, and by calling out for the Holy Spirit to help us, for He grants spiritual sight to all who ask so that we can know His healing power in our lives.
