One Holy Body

Preacher:
Passage: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13

God’s call for His Church and His Children are one and the same: Be holy as He is holy. The Church in Corinth has broken this commandment by being idle towards a member who was caught in unrepentant sin. The Apostle Paul wrote to enforce God’s command to be holy and called them to expel the sinner from their midst.

There is both a personal and a communal application to God’s Word. First, we are to excise sin from our personal lives lest it festers and destroys us and those around us. Second, we are to live as a holy community where we seek to correct one another, both for the sake of the health of our community and for the benefit of those who are in sin.
