God instructed Jeremiah to write down his sermons and to preach them again to the people of Judah. The hope was that they would listen and repent of their sins so that they would receive forgiveness and salvation. However, King Jehoiakim ignored God’s Word and even burned the scrolls, resulting in more suffering for him and the entire nation of Judah. It is important to remember that God’s call to repent is borne out of His love for His people and His desire for them to change and grow, that they may be blessed and be a blessing to others.
