In this passage, we see Christ’s passion for us, as He willingly suffered many things in order to pay the penalty for our sin and to reunite us with God. However, we must recognize that Jesus’ primary reason for dying was not just to save us from hell. Rather, His motivation was God’s glory. He paid for our sin and purchased our souls so that we would live a new life under His authority where we live for God’s glorious purposes.
