While God’s desire was for His people to orient their hearts towards Him, Judah remained unrepentant in her idolatry and as a result, experienced the full consequences of her sin. Our passage not only reminds us of the consequences of sin, but points us to God’s promise to renew our hearts. By renewing our hearts, He empowers us to live lives rooted in our Lord Jesus Christ, the fountain of living water, so that we can be trees planted by water.
