1 Corinthians 12-14 has one overarching message: Use the gifts that God has given you in an orderly manner to lovingly build up the Body of Christ. The issue in the Church in Corinth was that though they were gifted, they were neither loving nor orderly.

Paul reminded them that the need to be orderly was based on their calling to reflect God’s character. It was also so that they could build up the Church in an effective manner.

After giving these instructions, he concluded by preaching the Good News so that we would remember that though we fall short of God’s expectations, He still loves us and desires to lead us to live out His good purposes for our lives.
