The Gospel + Charity

Passage: Matthew 25:31-46

Jesus teaches us that in the end times our lives will be judged based on whether we demonstrated charity to those who were in need. While living a charitable life itself is not a requirement for salvation, nor a means to earn eternal life, it is a powerful demonstration of the genuineness of a believer’s faith. Those who have been transformed by God’s grace and the Gospel will inevitably show evidence of it in the way that they live and respond to the ‘least of these’. As we recognize the charity that has been afforded to us through the Gospel, we are motivated to extend charity to those who are in need around us.

The Gospel empowers us as believers to be the most charitable of all people, and to strive to extend grace to those in need out of an overflow of the love that we have first received from Christ.
